**About the Role**

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Gender Equality and Inclusion Specialist to join our team at CECI. As a volunteer, you will be working closely with our partner, the Center for Economic Governance and Leadership (CEGL) of the University of Kigali, to enhance the economic empowerment of vulnerable women in Rwanda.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Develop and implement tools and resources to advance gender equality across various sectors.
  • Conduct training sessions for the CEGL team and other stakeholders to effectively integrate gender equality principles and practices.
  • Assist in evaluating current gender equality practices and design innovative strategies to empower women and young rural women.
  • Organize training and awareness campaigns for staff, community members, and stakeholders to enhance understanding of gender issues.
  • Facilitate training and learning sessions on gender equality for national and regional communities of practice.
  • Contribute to embedding gender perspectives in partner programs and establish mechanisms for monitoring and evaluating the impact of gender equality initiatives.
  • Work with external partners, women's rights organizations, and key stakeholders to strengthen gender equality efforts and foster an inclusive organizational culture.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and contribute to personal safety measures, including risk mitigation plans.
  • Share your volunteer experience to raise awareness about international solidarity and support fundraising activities in collaboration with local partners.
  • Write detailed reports for partner organizations and CECI.

**Requirements**

  • Hold a degree in gender and or women's studies, feminist studies or a related field.
  • Have a deep understanding of theoretical and practical concepts and issues related to gender equality and inclusion.
  • Experience working with different organizations/institutions in gender integration and mainstreaming as well as development of tools associated.
  • Understand social dynamics and gender inequalities.
  • Be able to contextualize gender equality work within the framework of development projects.
  • Experience in designing and implementing gender equality or women's economic empowerment projects is an asset.
  • Have the ability to adapt to various situations and adjust approaches based on local needs and realities.
  • Possess excellent communication and training skills.
  • Be fluent in English.
