Job Title: Educational Assistant - Special Needs

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is a leading educational institution in Eastern Ontario, offering a wide range of programs to promote learning excellence and meet the individual needs of students, parents, and the community.

As an Educational Assistant - Special Needs, you will be an integral member of the school team, providing support to students with exceptional needs within the school. This role involves dealing with confidential information and requires ongoing flexibility and variability.

Responsibilities:
  • Support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and students with developmental disabilities
  • Participate in pool programs, academic support, and implementing special programs
  • Support deaf/hard of hearing or visually impaired students, physiotherapy exercises, and stretches
  • Modify programs and support learning for students with learning disabilities and speech/language issues
  • Perform outside yard duties, lifting, toileting, and/or pool duties
Requirements:
  • Community college diploma in Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Care/Worker, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of related experience with school-aged special needs children
  • Valid First Aid certification/CPR Level C
  • Completed Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, TCI, and/or Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) training
Benefits:
  • $27.45 per hour + 4% vacation pay and eligibility for benefits
  • Enrollment in the Board's term benefit plans (subject to terms of Collective Agreement)
