Job Purpose

The successful candidate will be responsible for integrating and training staff, ensuring the smooth running of upkeep or repair operations, and driving performance through work order and PM completion rates and OEE for the plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement maintenance procedures to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Lead the maintenance department to achieve high performance through work order and PM completion rates and OEE for the plant.
  • Collaborate with the planning team to ensure timely completion of PM and work orders.
  • Develop and coach staff members to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Prepare weekly maintenance schedules and allocate work to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Compile equipment information into job packages for technicians to complete each shift.
  • Analyze equipment downtime data to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to reduce costs.
  • Enforce and champion health and safety procedures and policies to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Recruit and hire staff members to join the maintenance team.
  • Ensure compliance with industry-leading food safety standards, including BRC and customer-specific standards.
  • Allocate resources effectively to produce optimal results and achieve company priorities.
  • Implement strategies to drive business growth and improve operational efficiency.
  • Identify and mitigate specific safety hazards associated with planned maintenance activities.
  • Monitor and evaluate 24-hour plant performance through daily analytics meetings.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to staff members to improve performance and address sub-standard situations.
  • Work closely with the leadership team to set and achieve company priorities.
  • Promote and encourage the company's mission, vision, and culture of training and development.
  • Review and measure the effectiveness of training programs and provide feedback to improve performance.
  • Manage the cleanliness of the maintenance shops and parts rooms to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Responsible for daily management and support for the team to achieve operational success.
  • Monitor time and attendance and ensure compliance with company procedures.
  • Approve vacation requests and ensure adequate staffing levels.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and non-conformities and take corrective action to prevent recurrence.
  • Issue disciplinary action when necessary and ensure fair treatment of all staff members.
  • Perform other assigned duties as required.
  • Follow health and safety rules and regulations and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a maintenance manager or in a similar role.
  • Experience in planning maintenance operations and driving performance.
  • Preference for candidates with a background in Continuous Improvement, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma.
  • Solid understanding of technical aspects of plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems, and other relevant areas.
  • Working knowledge of facilities machines and equipment.
  • Ability to track and report on activity and provide feedback to improve performance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; degree from a vocational school or BSc/BA in business administration or facility management is an advantage.
  • Valid Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM) certification is a plus.
  • Ability to work with and influence others in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
