Job Overview

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in the upkeep and functionality of machinery and equipment within the corporate environment. This position encompasses the inspection, testing, repair, installation, and troubleshooting of various systems. Additionally, the specialist will handle minor repairs and construction tasks, which may include painting, plumbing, carpentry, and welding.


WORK SCHEDULE:

Rotational shifts spanning four weeks, alternating between daytime (9:00 AM - 7:30 PM) and nighttime (11:30 PM - 10:00 PM) hours. The role requires a commitment to four-day work weeks, including weekends.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

(70%) Equipment Maintenance

  • Monitor machinery to identify malfunctions.
  • Collaborate with team members and management to diagnose issues and develop repair strategies.
  • Install and repair electrical components, including transformers, relays, circuit breakers, starters, and safety switches.
  • Design, assemble, install, and maintain piping systems along with hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Install, program, and troubleshoot automated systems and programmable logic controllers.
  • Service and repair HVAC systems, including refrigeration and heating ventilation.
  • Maintain and repair material handling equipment.
  • Oversee the main electrical panel and perform troubleshooting as needed.
  • Maintain and repair boilers, water heaters, water conditioning systems, and distribution networks.
  • Address complaints regarding malfunctioning equipment.

(15%) Preventative Maintenance

  • Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Complete all necessary documentation accurately.
  • Report significant issues to management.

(15%) Building Maintenance

  • Perform repairs and maintenance on the facility.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED; some college or technical training preferred.
  • 4-8 years of relevant experience.
  • Licensed journeyman in a related skilled trade.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical and electrical schematics, and technical instructions.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on preventing issues.
  • Well-organized and safety-conscious.
  • Willingness to work shifts that may be scheduled at any time during a 24-hour period, across any day of the week.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently, and 75 pounds occasionally.
  • Capability to balance on ladders, platforms, and equipment.
  • Able to work in refrigerated environments or extreme temperatures, as well as in settings with exposure to loud machinery and vibrations, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to work around yeast and flour.
