About the Role

The University Health Network (UHN) is seeking a highly skilled Technical Specialist to join its Genomics Innovation team. As a key member of this team, you will play a critical role in deploying software applications for test requisitioning, laboratory information management, automated execution of bioinformatics pipelines, tracking of quality control metrics, interpreting genetic variants, generation of clinical reports, and deposition of large-scale genomics data for research.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploy software applications for test requisitioning, laboratory information management, and automated execution of bioinformatics pipelines
  • Track quality control metrics and interpret genetic variants
  • Generate clinical reports and deposit large-scale genomics data for research
  • Collaborate with clinical bioinformatics, laboratory, and geneticist teams to develop a strategy for enterprise application integration, resource planning, and application development

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 5-8 years of experience in a software applications role
  • Expertise in high-performance computing environments, ideally for analysis of genomic data
  • Demonstrated past successful implementation of a complex software system

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Project management certification (PMP)
  • Experience deploying software pipelines on commercial cloud computing environments
  • Mentorship or team leadership experience (informal or formal)
