Our Franchise Program

Our comprehensive franchise program includes:

  • A thorough training program with some of Canada's most experienced business owners.
  • Travel to various regions in the province for overnight stays, providing a unique opportunity to discover different markets and expand your expertise.
  • A mentorship program to help you develop the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.

What You'll Do

As a franchise owner with Giant Tiger, you'll have the autonomy to:

  • Manage Your Store: Prepare financial reports, track sales performance, make corrective actions, and implement strategies to increase sales and profitability. Control inventory levels and make purchasing decisions based on sales trends.
  • Lead Your Team: Recruit, train, and supervise store staff to provide exceptional customer service. Establish employee schedules, manage employee performance, and take disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Administer Your Store: Maintain accurate records of sales, inventory, and expenses. Prepare reports for senior management and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Engage with Your Community: Represent your store in the local community, coordinate community events, and participate in local initiatives to establish a positive presence and foster good relationships with local businesses and organizations.

Requirements

  • Minimum three years of experience in retail, with at least one year in a leadership role.
  • Ability to lead and manage teams, with the flexibility to adapt your leadership style to meet the diverse needs of your team.
  • Basic computer skills, with a willingness to learn new software and systems, and adapt to Giant Tiger's procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to clearly convey ideas, actively listen, and facilitate productive dialogue, both written and verbal.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage tasks, schedules, and projects effectively.
  • A strong commitment to the community, demonstrated through participation in non-profit initiatives, amateur sports teams, and local organizations.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Willingness to travel to other regions for training and potential store management opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using sales reports and customer feedback to interpret market trends and improve sales strategies.
  • Experience in visual merchandising.
  • Previous experience with WorkDay or a similar HR/employee management platform.
  • Bilingualism (English and French).
