Category Manager - Grocery

We are seeking a passionate and driven Category Manager to join our growing team. Reporting to the Purchasing Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our grocery product offerings by developing and executing merchandising and purchasing strategies aligned with market trends and customer needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Supplier Relationships & Negotiation:
    • Negotiate favorable agreements, pricing structures, and promotional schedules with suppliers.
    • Maintain daily communication with key suppliers to ensure optimal performance and results.
    • Conduct competitor analysis to monitor market prices and maintain a competitive edge within established budgets.
    • Collaborate with suppliers to develop and implement a comprehensive promotional calendar.
  • Product Development & Partnerships:
    • Identify and develop new product opportunities and strategic partnerships that align with our brand guidelines and market trends.
    • Cultivate a diverse and innovative product portfolio that caters to the evolving needs of our customers.
  • Merchandising & Customer Focus:
    • Adhere to established merchandising principles and best practices.
    • Conduct regular audits of your assigned product category to ensure optimal presentation and inventory management.
    • Actively monitor customer feedback and implement solutions to address concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Team Management & Performance:
    • Provide daily guidance and support to your junior buyer, fostering their professional development.
    • Monitor inventory levels, losses, and profitability metrics on a daily basis.
Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication skills in both French and English.
  • Strong work ethic, adaptability, and commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Proven negotiation experience and organizational skills.
  • Post-secondary diploma or equivalent.
Assets:
  • Three to five years of experience in the food industry.
  • Two to three years of management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce or a related field.
