At Lufa Farms, we are dedicated to revolutionizing the food system by cultivating food in urban environments and doing so sustainably.
We have established the world's first commercial rooftop greenhouse and collaborate with numerous local farms and food artisans to provide fresh, local, and responsibly sourced food to our clientele across Quebec.
To further our mission of transforming urban eating habits, we are seeking a Product Category Manager who can uphold our values while nurturing supplier relationships and forging new partnerships and product lines.
The Product Category Manager will report to the Head of Purchasing and will be tasked with executing merchandising and procurement strategies informed by market forecasts and trends, while anticipating the needs of our customers, all in alignment with the vision and values of Lufa Farms.
You will enhance your product categories through effective negotiations and supplier engagement. Additionally, you will oversee the performance of your category's Junior Purchaser and assess yields based on specific KPIs. Key Responsibilities:1. Supplier Communication and Negotiation:
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and promotional schedules;
- Engage with key suppliers daily to ensure optimal outcomes;
- Conduct market visits to monitor competitor pricing, ensuring a strong negotiation stance and competitive pricing within set budgets;
- Develop and maintain a promotional calendar with each supplier.
2. New Product and Partnership Development:
- Propose new products and suppliers in line with our standards;
- Curate an ideal product offering based on market trends.
3. Merchandising:
- Ensure adherence to the company's core merchandising principles;
- Regularly audit your product category;
- Actively respond to customer feedback and provide timely solutions.
4. Management:
- Supervise the daily performance of your Junior Purchaser;
- Monitor inventory levels and analyze profits and losses.
- Fluent communicator in both French and English;
- Strong work ethic, adaptability, and respect for products and deadlines;
- Proven negotiation experience and organizational skills;
- Post-secondary education.
- Three to five years of experience in the food sector;
- Two to three years of management experience;
- Bachelor's degree in commerce.
- Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm, with availability to respond to suppliers during evenings and weekends.
