Position Overview:

The Senior Market Risk Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting the bank's risk appetite by offering expert guidance within the Market Risk FRTB team. This involves thorough analysis and reporting, with a focus on timely escalation of issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide critical support to enhance the bank's risk appetite, ensuring effective analysis and reporting within the Market Risk FRTB team.
  • Challenge existing processes and advocate for projects aimed at improving operational efficiencies to better support business objectives.
  • Comprehend changes in systems and models, assessing their outcomes and implications for market risk capital processes, while owning and refining process designs.
  • Implement rigorous review and assessment protocols to ensure output quality aligns with business standards, fostering an environment conducive to effective risk escalation.
  • Identify and promote innovative opportunities, driving initiatives that align with the bank's strategic goals.
  • Enhance analytical capabilities and business acumen, while proactively addressing current and emerging risks.
  • Collaborate with business partners to share insights and leverage complementary skills, supporting stakeholders in driving change and achieving organizational objectives.
  • Maintain a robust understanding of the analytical principles underpinning new capital requirements in FRTB, addressing modeling issues related to financial instruments and risk factors.
  • Facilitate leadership and empowerment within the team, mentoring analysts through cross-training and serving as a resource for daily operations and ad-hoc tasks.
  • Assist management in the recruitment process by identifying high-quality candidates who will integrate seamlessly into the team.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience in the industry, with a focus on liquidity or risk management, and relevant accreditation.
  • Proven ability to mentor team members through effective cross-training.
  • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and analytical skills, capable of understanding complex environments.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to facilitate collaboration across all organizational levels.
  • Adept at managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a passion for process improvement and initiative management.
  • Independent thinker with a quick learning ability, ready to seize opportunities and mitigate challenges.

  • Solid understanding of risk management, governance compliance, and control practices.
  • Experience with Market Risk measurement and reporting, including concepts like VaR, Stress Testing, and FRTB.
  • Knowledge of financial instruments, regulations, and market risk metrics, acquired through academic or practical experience.
  • Strong grasp of the Regulatory and Compliance landscape.
  • Familiarity with risk, valuations, and reporting systems is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
  • Programming skills in VBA, Python, or SQL are beneficial for enhancing risk management infrastructure.
  • A degree in Risk Management, Business, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or other quantitative fields.
  • Pursuit or completion of CFA/FRM is a plus.
