The Construction Lead collaborates closely with Supervisors and Project Managers to ensure the successful execution of projects, prioritizing safety, adherence to timelines, and budget management. The role involves supporting Supervisors in the timely completion of construction activities while maintaining accurate documentation related to work performed, materials received, subcontractor activities, and compliance with Health & Safety regulations. The Construction Lead is also responsible for guiding and training Labourers as necessary. This position requires working outdoors in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assist Supervisors in planning, scheduling, and executing construction activities in alignment with project timelines.
- Ensure subcontractors are present on-site and perform their tasks as outlined and scheduled.
- Maintain open communication with Management and Operations regarding the planning and execution of construction activities, focusing on meeting schedule and budget objectives, product quality, and staff conduct.
- Uphold a high standard of workmanship on construction tasks, adhering to contract specifications and budget constraints.
- Support Supervisors in identifying and implementing solutions to on-site challenges related to materials, workforce, subcontractors, quality, schedule, customer satisfaction, health and safety, and changes in project scope.
- Assist in maintaining a daily log of site activities, including attendance, equipment usage, and interactions with subcontractors, clients, and consultants.
- Foster positive public relations with management, employees, vendors, and clients.
- Adhere to and enforce the guidelines set forth in the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Construction Projects.
- Perform snow maintenance duties as required.
Internally, the Construction Lead interacts with Project Managers and Labourers, reporting directly to Supervisors and the Operations Manager. Externally, the role involves communication with clients, consultants, subcontractors, vendors, and Ministry of Labour Inspectors.
Qualifications- Minimum of a high school diploma.
- Familiarity with civil engineering construction processes and projects.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications effectively.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Project.
- Strong command of English, both written and spoken, at a grade 12 level.
- Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
