Position Overview

Under the guidance of the Area Supervisor, the individual in this role is tasked with the upkeep of contracted assets, including roadways, medians, signage, guardrails, fencing, bridges, tunnels, and vegetation, in accordance with the standards and conditions outlined in the contract.

Key Responsibilities

Winter Operations

  • Execute snow and ice removal utilizing appropriate equipment and methods.

Summer Operations

  • Maintain and repair highways and various surfaces, including signage, guardrails, fencing, lighting, potholes, and striping.
  • Manage litter and debris removal.
  • Operate necessary vehicles and machinery for surface and right-of-way maintenance, including repairs to slopes, berms, culverts, and drains, as well as controlling vegetation growth.

As Needed

  • Set up and dismantle traffic control measures.
  • Transport crew and equipment to designated work sites.
  • Be available for emergency response as required, including overtime, evenings, and weekends.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, and approve traffic control plans in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensure proper setup and removal of traffic plans.
  • Conduct daily Toolbox Talks, job initiations, and Job Hazard Analyses.
  • Supervise and evaluate daily work performed by operators.
  • Confirm the accuracy of completed work.
  • Ensure daily timesheets are precise and submitted.
  • Report all incidents and any equipment or facility damages to the supervisor.
  • Foster a diverse, inclusive, and equitable work environment, free from discrimination and harassment.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Undertake other duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Basic mathematical proficiency.
  • Consistent adherence to all policies and procedures.
  • Ability to understand and interpret written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions, as well as safety rules and operational manuals.
  • Capability to adapt to changing demands and priorities.
  • Experience with hand and power tools, traffic control devices, and mobile equipment used for maintenance and repair.
  • A strong sense of safety awareness and the ability to identify hazards in various tasks.
  • Ability to communicate safety concerns effectively with colleagues.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid DZ Driver's License with a clean driving record (required).
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in construction, road maintenance, or landscaping (preferred).
  • Experience with MTO is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Excel and Word.
  • Completion of training in traffic control methods, first aid, and hazardous materials handling is preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Must maintain focus on safety while using tools and equipment, driving, or operating machinery. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
  • As a supervisor, it is essential to lead by example, encouraging adherence to safety protocols and proper use of PPE among team members.
