Position Overview:

The Government of Manitoba is seeking a qualified individual for the role of Assistant Director, focusing on the advancement and support of Francophone initiatives. This role is pivotal in shaping policies and programs that enhance the services available to the Francophone community within the province.

PM4 $81, $106,027.00 per year

Key Responsibilities:

The Assistant Director will report directly to the Executive Director and will be tasked with:

  • Leading the strategic planning, execution, and assessment of policies and services aimed at promoting French language usage.
  • Providing expert advice and analysis on legislative matters and programs that influence French language services.
  • Fostering relationships with various government entities and community organizations to enhance collaboration.
  • Conducting research and managing projects as assigned by the Executive Director.
  • Participating in federal and provincial networks to advocate for the interests of the Francophone community.
  • Overseeing a team of policy analysts and ensuring effective mentorship and development.

Qualifications:

Essential:
  • Post-secondary education in public administration or a related field, complemented by relevant experience.
  • Proven track record in policy development and program evaluation.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with experience in mentoring and coaching.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to cultivate positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Political acumen to handle sensitive issues with discretion.
  • Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to provide sound recommendations.
  • Fluency in both French and English, with excellent communication skills in both languages.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by Francophone communities in Manitoba.

Desired:
  • In-depth knowledge of Manitoba's French Language Services legislation and policies.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Fluently bilingual in French and English.
  • Willingness to work overtime and travel as required.
