Position Overview:

This role involves overseeing the strategic direction and execution of policies and programs that enhance services in French and support the Francophone community within the province. The successful candidate will report directly to the Executive Director and will play a crucial role in shaping the future of bilingual services.

Key Responsibilities:

The Assistant Director will be tasked with the following:

  • Leading the development, planning, and assessment of legislative measures and policies aimed at promoting French-language services.
  • Providing expert advice and analytical support in the formulation and evaluation of policies affecting bilingual services across various governmental levels.
  • Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with other government entities and community organizations.
  • Conducting research and managing projects as directed by the Executive Director.
  • Participating in federal and provincial networks focused on the Canadian Francophonie.
  • Supervising a team of policy analysts and ensuring effective mentorship and guidance.
  • Assuming management responsibilities in the absence of the Executive Director.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Post-secondary education in public administration or a related field, complemented by relevant work experience.
  • Extensive experience in policy development and program evaluation.
  • Proven leadership skills with a focus on staff development and performance management.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities to foster positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Political acumen to handle sensitive issues with discretion.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Fluency in both French and English, with excellent communication skills in both languages.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by Francophone communities in Manitoba and Canada.

Desired:

  • In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation and policies regarding French-language services.

Employment Conditions:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Availability for overtime and occasional travel may be required.
