Position Overview:

The Government of Manitoba is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual for the role of Assistant Director. This position is pivotal in leading the development, execution, and assessment of policies and programs that enhance services in French and support the Francophone community within the province.

Key Responsibilities:

The Assistant Director will report directly to the Executive Director and will be responsible for:

  • Providing strategic leadership in the formulation and evaluation of legislation and policies that promote French-language services.
  • Conducting comprehensive analyses and offering support in the review of governmental policies affecting Francophone services.
  • Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with various governmental departments and non-governmental organizations.
  • Leading a team of policy analysts to ensure effective program delivery and compliance with established standards.
  • Participating in the Federal-Provincial-Territorial (FPT) governmental network to advocate for the Canadian Francophonie.

Qualifications:

Essential:
  • A degree in public administration or a related field, complemented by relevant experience.
  • Proven track record in policy development and program evaluation.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with experience in mentoring and guiding staff.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills for fostering positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong political acumen and discretion in handling sensitive issues.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Fluency in both French and English, with strong communication skills in both languages.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by Francophone communities in Manitoba and Canada.

Desired:
  • In-depth knowledge of Manitoba's French Language Services legislation and policies.
