Job Summary

The Director of Commercial Services is a key leadership role at Chelsea Hotel, Toronto, responsible for driving revenue growth and strategic alignment across sales, marketing, and revenue management departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the hotel executive team to develop and implement strategic plans to drive revenue growth and achieve budget goals.
  • Formulate and execute strategies to drive revenue in all segments, including room sales, food and beverage, and other revenue streams.
  • Provide strategic direction to the hotel executive team on revenue growth initiatives and budget planning.
  • Champion the relationship between sales, marketing, and revenue management teams, both internally and with regional and head office counterparts.
  • Develop and implement a cohesive approach to sales and marketing efforts, coordinating the sales, marketing, and revenue teams for maximum effect.
  • Oversee the development of annual budgets for sales, marketing, and revenue management.
  • Lead the weekly revenue operations meetings (ROME) to drive revenue growth and discuss key performance indicators.
  • Implement effective succession planning and talent development within the hotel's sales, marketing, and revenue management departments.
  • Work with the Director of Marketing & eBusiness to develop and execute marketing campaigns and target markets through traditional and digital channels.
  • Oversee the strategic direction of the hotel's sales mix, pricing structure, and positioning, as well as direct sales, revenue management, reservations, and conference services.
  • Assist with the recruitment of sales, marketing, and revenue management teams.
  • Create a team culture that aligns with the hotel's mission, vision, and values.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role within sales and/or marketing and/or revenue management.
  • At least 10 years of experience in sales/marketing/revenue with a large hotel.
  • Strong understanding of market share analysis and forecasting.
  • Highly proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office products.
  • Proficient in IDeaS software, a definite asset.
  • Excellent understanding of industry systems, procedures, and best practices.
  • Post-secondary education in hospitality management.
  • Other education in sales, marketing, and revenue management an asset.
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Confident and professional communicator.
  • Exceptional presentation and negotiating skills.
  • Strong language skills, with fluency in English.
