Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide timely and accurate legal advice on commercial law matters, including procurement and contracts, general corporate advice, and litigation management.
  • Conduct legal research and identify potential risks and opportunities, formulating and recommending strategies to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Develop and implement effective corporate governance compliance programs, ensuring Foresters Financial Services, Inc. remains compliant with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Manage external and internal legal resources, including needs analysis, resource allocation, and project monitoring.
  • Direct the work of paralegals and external counsel, ensuring high-quality legal services are delivered to our business units.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to internal clients, promoting law department resources and maximizing efficiency.
Requirements:
  • Five to twelve years of legal experience, with a focus on commercial law.
  • Subject matter expertise in two or more areas of law.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage working partnerships with all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient with technology, legal research, and concise memo drafting.
  • Ability to communicate complex issues to non-legal professionals and identify potential sources of significant exposure, consequences, and risk mitigants.
