Job Title: Senior Legal Counsel

Join ZSA Legal Recruitment in our search for a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel to support the Enforcement Branch in delivering fair, vigorous, and timely enforcement of securities laws in Ontario.

About the Role:

We are seeking a seasoned Litigation Counsel II to work closely with other securities regulators, self-regulatory organizations, and law-enforcement agencies to enhance initiatives to fight misconduct. As a key member of the Regulatory Enforcement Action Team, you will support investigations by conducting legal research, examining files for potential breaches of Ontario securities law, and assisting in the formulation of a strategy for successful investigations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct legal research to support investigations and identify important legal issues
  • Examine files for potential breaches of Ontario securities law and provide litigation advice and support
  • Prepare and conduct enforcement proceedings before the Ontario Securities Commission and Commercial List
  • Work closely with senior litigation counsel to support or participate in complex hearings/trials
  • Advise on policy matters affecting the Commission's mandate to enforce Ontario securities law
Requirements:
  • At least 5 years of litigation experience, preferably in securities-related matters
  • Lawyer in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
  • Strong knowledge of criminal law, administrative law, and securities law
  • Working knowledge of the securities and commodities markets
