About the Role

The Distribution Financial Strategies team at Intact Financial Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Accounting Specialist to join their dynamic team. As an Accounting Specialist, you will play a critical role in managing internal monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting, working closely with various distribution entities and finance teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage internal reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports
  • Produce distribution results and forecasts
  • Analyze and understand results in collaboration with business partners
  • Advise the team on accounting and operationalization of complex transactions and financial restructurings
  • Support business units in managing their financial performance, including private equity portfolio
  • Participate in financial systems and accounting processes improvement initiatives
  • Participate in the budget process
  • Review and improve controls in place and accounting treatments related to operations
  • Make recommendations and suggestions to management based on expertise
Requirements
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) or equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum 5-8 years of relevant experience in accounting, IFRS accounting standards, and/or finance
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry is an asset
  • Fast learning, agility, and adaptability to change
  • Discipline, autonomy, resourcefulness, and professionalism
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interact with various people at all levels of the organization, including management and external stakeholders
  • Bilingualism is required for candidates located in Quebec
