Position Overview

The Analysis and Business Solutions team at Desjardins is seeking a qualified candidate for the role of Senior Actuarial Consultant. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate within a diverse team comprising actuaries, data scientists, and data specialists in a dynamic environment focused on professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive analyses on various data sources, both structured and unstructured, employing advanced predictive modeling techniques.
  • Apply analytical and statistical methodologies to drive business solutions for internal stakeholders such as Underwriting, Sales, and Claims, aiming to foster innovation and deliver value to clients.
  • Oversee and develop complex projects by identifying issues and recommending viable solutions.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in analytics and integrate these innovations into your work.
  • Effectively communicate the assumptions and outcomes of analyses to diverse internal stakeholders and management.
  • Represent the actuarial department in decision-making committees and meetings.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and a resource for other teams within the organization.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Statistics.
  • A minimum of seven years of relevant experience.
  • Other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Experience in Property and Casualty Insurance, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SAS, VBA, and R.
  • Fluency in French is required for positions in Quebec.
  • Advanced English proficiency is necessary due to the nature of the responsibilities and interactions with English-speaking partners and clients.
