Position Overview:

Groves Memorial Community Hospital is seeking a Personal Support Worker to join our dynamic team in a temporary full-time capacity. This role is essential in delivering high-quality care to our patients, working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize client safety and uphold ethical standards in all interactions.
  • Establish respectful and supportive relationships with patients and their families to effectively address care needs.
  • Honor the dignity and individuality of each patient through personalized care.
  • Provide comprehensive personal care, including hygiene, grooming, nutrition, and assistance with adaptive aids.
  • Monitor and report any changes in patients' conditions and behaviors.
  • Engage actively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Attend to the unique needs of patients, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Assist patients during diagnostic procedures as required.
  • Document patient information accurately, including vital statistics.
  • Maintain a safe and hygienic environment in accordance with hospital protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Personal Support Worker (PSW) Diploma/Certification.
  • Current CPR certification and Standard First Aid training.
  • Experience in providing personal care in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective collaboration skills with the ability to work within a team.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining positive relationships with healthcare professionals.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of reference checks and a Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Completion of a Pre-Employment Health Assessment, including proof of full COVID vaccination.

Work Schedule:

  • Shifts may include days, evenings, nights, and weekends based on departmental needs.
