Position Overview:

Groves Memorial Community Hospital is seeking a dedicated Personal Support Worker to join our dynamic healthcare team in a temporary full-time capacity. This role is essential in providing high-quality care to our patients within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure client safety and uphold ethical standards in all interactions.
  • Build respectful relationships with patients and their families to effectively address care needs.
  • Honor the dignity and individuality of each patient.
  • Deliver personal care that encompasses the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs of patients, including hygiene, grooming, nutrition, and assistance with mobility.
  • Monitor and report any changes in patients' conditions or behaviors.
  • Engage actively in a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Attend to the unique needs of patients and assist them during diagnostic procedures.
  • Collect and document vital patient information accurately.
  • Support patients with appropriate supervision and maintain a safe environment.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols to ensure the safety and comfort of all patients and staff.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Personal Support Worker (PSW) Diploma/Certification program.
  • Current CPR certification at the Heart Saver Level and Standard First Aid.
  • Prior experience in providing personal care in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with the scope of practice for various healthcare roles.
  • Effective collaboration skills with interdisciplinary teams, patients, and families.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Ability to follow through on requests and work independently.
  • Knowledge of medical asepsis principles and universal precautions.
  • Proven ability to foster positive relationships with healthcare professionals.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.

Additional Requirements:

  • Consistent performance and attendance are mandatory.
  • Successful reference checks will be conducted prior to employment.
  • A Police Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
  • Completion of a Pre-Employment Health Assessment, including proof of full COVID vaccination, is necessary.

Work Schedule:

  • Shifts will vary, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends as per departmental needs.

  • Competitive hourly wage based on experience.
