Position Overview:

Groves Memorial Community Hospital is seeking a Personal Support Worker to join our dynamic healthcare team in a temporary full-time capacity. As a Personal Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure patient safety and uphold ethical standards in all interactions.
  • Build respectful relationships with patients and their families to effectively address care needs.
  • Honor the dignity and individuality of each patient.
  • Deliver personal care that encompasses the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs of patients, including hygiene, grooming, nutrition, and toileting.
  • Monitor and report any changes in patients' conditions and behaviors.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient care.
  • Attend to the unique needs of patients, providing assistance as required.
  • Accompany patients to diagnostic tests and procedures.
  • Collect and document patient information accurately.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Personal Support Worker (PSW) Diploma/Certification program.
  • Current CPR certification at the Heart Saver Level and Standard First Aid.
  • Prior experience in providing personal care to patients is preferred.
  • Minimum of one to two years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting is desirable.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with the scope of practice for various healthcare roles.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with team members, patients, and families.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Proven ability to follow through on requests and work independently.
  • Knowledge of medical asepsis principles and universal precautions.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships with healthcare professionals.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.

Additional Requirements:

  • Consistent performance and attendance are essential.
  • Successful reference checks are required prior to employment.
  • A Police Vulnerable Sector Check must be provided.
  • Completion of a Pre-Employment Health Assessment, including proof of full COVID Vaccination, is mandatory.

Work Schedule:

  • Shifts may include days, evenings, nights, and weekends based on departmental needs.

Compensation:

  • Competitive hourly wage based on experience.
