If this challenge excites you, we invite you to consider joining our team.

The Role

The Engineering and Geoscience Practice (EGP) team at TC Energy is committed to fostering engineering and geoscience methodologies as a strategic advantage for our organization. This commitment is driven by our vision of cultivating Technical Personnel who promote a culture of excellence through ongoing training, education, experience, and collaboration in delivering Technical Work that ensures our assets are safe, reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable while meeting performance expectations.

The EGP Team also serves as the "gatekeepers" for the Company's Permits and Certificates of Practice in necessary jurisdictions, enhances and maintains EGP documentation (Manuals, Frameworks, and other guiding materials), and offers guidance on compliance and quality in technical practices throughout the organization.

We are in search of a Lead Engineer or Geoscientist who is committed to professional ethics and the assurance of technical practice quality for our assets. The ideal candidate will oversee the implementation of top-tier technical practices, collaborate with Safety & Technical Services (STS) and our Projects and Business Unit partners to establish and uphold sound technical practices, resolve challenges, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Develop standards, processes, and procedures that ensure compliance and quality in technical practices. Deliver and support the assurance of EGP requirements and assist teams in their implementation. Foster collaboration and resolve technical and ethical practice challenges across the organization. Maintain requirements for jurisdictional permits to practice and certificates of authorization. Cultivate relationships with regulatory bodies that define professional practice requirements and guidelines, facilitating the resolution of compliance issues. Evaluate changes in legal requirements affecting the EGP, and create and lead plans to address compliance gaps. Assess hazards and risks related to technical practices and contribute to risk management processes. Engage with stakeholders to share insights and raise awareness regarding EGP requirements and updates. Support the development of the Technical Career Progression Framework and related technical competency requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

Post-Secondary Degree in Engineering or Geoscience. For candidates based in Canada, a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo) designation with a governing body (e.g., APEGA) in good standing. A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in engineering or geoscience practice. Proven ability to interpret regulations, technical standards, and code requirements. Experience in technical review, compliance verification, and/or assurance. Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including the ability to organize and facilitate meetings and present relevant reports to various stakeholders. Demonstrated leadership abilities in understanding customer needs, influencing, and driving change. Capability to exercise leadership with and without formal authority.

Preferred Qualifications

Systems thinking with experience in process design and management systems. Familiarity with project management principles and practices. Experience applying technical codes and standards. Experience with change management and organizational change initiatives. For candidates based in the US, a Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.G.) license with a governing body (e.g., TBPELS, TBPG) in good standing. Successful completion of pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing. Valid driver's license and provision of a driver's abstract for review.
