We are currently in search of a Geoscience Technologist to enhance our Technical Geoscience team. The successful applicant will collaborate with the team to deliver geoscience and administrative assistance across ARC's primary districts. This full-time role is based in Calgary and reports directly to the Geosciences Technical Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the development, maintenance, troubleshooting, and testing of proprietary geo-analytical tools and platforms. Collaborate with the team to ensure essential objectives are achieved, managing workflows through regular communication, team meetings, work planning, and prioritization of opportunities. Provide support to technical Geoscientists by managing geotechnical projects across various software applications, including data curation, loading, quality control, and data transfer between programs. Prepare maps and reports relevant to reservoir quality, data coverage, and volumetrics. Condition data for analytical use. Verify, refine, and enhance the flow of geoscience data within the organization, ensuring adherence to data governance standards, including consistent nomenclature, units, and file types. Collaborate with service providers to ensure incoming datasets comply with ARC's data formatting and standards policies. Develop, maintain, and expand the corporate geoscience database (well, LAS, core, diagnostics, etc.). Write basic SQL queries to facilitate data access for teams from available databases. Enhance and customize Spotfire and PowerBI dashboards that integrate subsurface information with other disciplines for internal use.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of 10 years of experience as a Geoscience or Geological Technician or Technologist in the oil and gas sector, ideally with a Geoscience Technology diploma. Experience handling subsurface geoscience data (wells, tops, core, LAS, SEGY, Microseismic, etc.). Familiarity with LAS logs and creating templates using geoSCOUT LAS Datamanager and IHS Datamanager is advantageous. Strong proficiency in oil and gas software, with a commitment to continuous learning; experience with applications such as Petrel, Transform, Seisware, GeoScout, Rok Doc, Spotfire, and Power BI is beneficial. Basic knowledge of Python, SQL, and other programming languages is a plus. Proven ability to structure and organize large, complex datasets. Strong analytical capabilities and attention to detail. Excellent relationship-building skills and a collaborative approach to work. Outstanding organizational, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
