Position Overview:

Cenovus is seeking a Senior Geoscientist to become a vital member of our Conventional Development division. This role will involve leading a diverse team focused on the management of our Montney assets. The successful candidate will have a profound understanding of Montney development and the critical elements that contribute to its success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with a team of Geologists, Geophysicists, and Engineers to enhance the development of Montney assets.
  • Ensure the team comprehends and effectively applies the essential factors that influence regional Montney development.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of the Montney capital program.
  • Develop geological maps to optimize inventory, identify drilling sites, and refine long-term strategies.
  • Assess business development prospects, including acquisitions, divestitures, and land tenure expirations.
  • Engage with Cenovus's subsurface community through peer reviews and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Innovate and propose new strategies for resource development in key operational areas.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior Geologists.

Candidate Profile:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Geology.
  • At least 12 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Membership in APEGA or a similar Provincial Professional Geoscience Organization is mandatory.
  • Proficient in various geoscience software, with knowledge of Geographix and Petrel being advantageous.
  • Strong grasp of Montney development and its key success factors.
  • Experience in drilling and operations.
  • Prior experience in the Western Canadian Deep Basin is beneficial.
  • Ability to thrive in a diverse and multicultural environment.
  • Demonstrated informal leadership skills.
