POSITION SUMMARY

ROLE OBJECTIVE:

The Bilingual Legal Translator plays a crucial role in assisting the French Language Services Advisor by translating essential materials for the Law Society. This position aims to enhance comprehension of the Law Society's objectives, initiatives, and services, while promoting effective communication between the organization, its members, and the general public. Responsibilities include translating various materials such as media content, annual reports, corporate publications, and digital communications, in accordance with established policies and guidelines.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

A degree in translation, with a strong foundation in legal terminology in both French and English, particularly in common law. A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years of professional translation work, demonstrating the ability to work independently under tight deadlines while ensuring high-quality translations. Exceptional command of French grammar and legal terminology, with effective written and verbal communication skills. Comprehensive understanding of translation principles and current industry practices. Familiarity with best practices in organizational communication, especially regarding French language services. In-depth knowledge of Law Society policies and an understanding of the governance principles within the legal profession. Ability to analyze and convey complex information clearly. Proficient in word processing, email, and web applications. Comfortable using personal computers and relevant software tools.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Service and Support

Facilitates translation services across the organization to uphold the Law Society's commitment to bilingual communication with both the legal profession and the public.

Translation Delivery

Collaborates with the French Language Services Advisor to translate a diverse array of corporate materials, including media releases, brochures, and web content, as well as various forms and correspondence as required.

Team Collaboration

Actively participates in a team-oriented environment to ensure the consistency and accuracy of all translated documents.

WORKING ARRANGEMENT
