Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Maintenance Assistant to join our team at White Cliffe Terrace. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of our residents by performing general building maintenance and preventative maintenance duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general building maintenance and preventative maintenance duties, including minor repairs, renovations, and maintenance of the residence.
- Coordinate with contractors to ensure the building is well maintained.
- Perform duties in all service areas in a safe and efficient manner with consideration for residents, staff, and family members.
- Monitor and maintain environmental fire safety conditions, equipment, and alarm systems.
- Assist residents with moving furniture, as required.
- Ensure that safety procedures are always adhered to while working in the residence.
- Respond to building emergencies appropriately.
- Upkeep of exterior building including grounds, common areas, and garbage container areas.
- Perform regular daily and monthly maintenance checks of all equipment and supplies within the residence.
- Snow removal on all sidewalks, driveway, and ramps of the residence.
- Responsible for checking and updating maintenance work orders through the applicable database.
- Keep work areas and storage rooms neat and orderly.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Building/Environmental Services Manager or designate.
Requirements
- Minimum of grade 12 education required.
- Previous experience in building services with a strong background in HVAC, working with senior clientele is considered an asset.
- Proven ability to perform janitorial duties, renovations, repairs, minor plumbing/electrical work, and preventive maintenance.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, in the English language.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Intermediate computer skills required.
- Dependable, responsible, flexible, and an ability to work well with others in a team environment and independently.
- A resident-oriented individual, whose visions and values align with those of the residence.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Has demonstrated multi-tasking skills and the ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
