Department: Operations/Site Reports To: Rigging Operations Manager Overall Responsibilities:
  • Utilize a variety of rigging hardware including wire rope, cordage, chains, and hoisting devices.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to all OHS regulations, HR policies, and industry best practices.
  • Exhibit a collaborative attitude and work effectively within a team.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely in verbal interactions.
  • Demonstrate patience and understanding towards the needs of others.
  • Follow directives and seek clarification when objectives are unclear.
  • Perform high steel rigging for large-scale events (100'+) while ensuring safety protocols are followed.
  • Employ fall protection equipment effectively when working at heights to access building structures.
  • Raise and securely install rigging points as directed by the Ground Rigging team.
  • Conduct inspections and verify the installation of rigging points, making necessary adjustments as instructed.
  • Safely dismantle rigging equipment post-event.
  • Assist the Ground Rigging team in assembling various rigging structures, operating motors, and hanging trusses.
  • Manage rigging for corporate events, ensuring all safety measures are in place.
  • Access building structures using MEWP, ladders, or scaffolding as required.
  • Establish ground support towers and structures as needed.
  • Engage in special projects, including roof installations/removals and maintenance tasks.
  • Conduct inspections, maintenance, and repairs of rigging equipment.
  • Provide training and guidance for junior staff members.
Qualifications:
  • ETCP certification is preferred.
  • Rope Access certification (SPRAT or IRATA) is advantageous.
  • Professional experience in theatre or arena rigging is preferred.
  • Experience operating MEWPs is beneficial.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Fall protection certification is necessary.
  • A minimum of 2 years of post-secondary training in a related field is expected.
Terms of Employment:
  • On-call availability.
  • Casual employment status.
  • Work schedule varies week to week.
  • Workload is cyclical, with periods of high activity and quieter times.
