York Region District School Board is seeking a dedicated and experienced educator to fill the role of Literacy Specialist.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engaging literacy programs aligned with BC Curriculum guidelines.
  • Collaborate with teachers to integrate differentiated instruction strategies, ensuring all learners have access to high-quality literacy support.
  • Provide professional development opportunities for educators on best practices in literacy instruction.
  • Utilize data analysis to inform instructional decisions and monitor student progress.
  • Stay current on emerging trends and research in the field of literacy education.

Qualifications:

  • Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate or eligibility for one.
  • Proven experience implementing universal design and differentiation strategies.
  • Deep understanding of Indigenous Ways of Knowing and commitment to inclusive practices.
  • Strong classroom management skills and ability to foster a positive learning environment.
  • Proficiency in utilizing technology to enhance literacy instruction.
