About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Secondary Literacy and Humanities Teacher to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in shaping the academic journey of students in grades 8 to 12.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert guidance and support to school-based staff by collaborating closely with them on a regular basis, fostering professional growth and development.
  • Champion inclusive teaching practices by modeling Universal Design for Learning principles, effective assessment strategies, and targeted interventions.
  • Collaborate effectively with various educational professionals, including Teacher-On-Call (TTOC), UTTOCs, Classroom Teachers, ELL Specialists, and Resource Teachers, to co-design and co-teach engaging learning experiences.
  • Contribute to the development of district resources, systems, and structures by actively participating in collaborative design processes.
  • Lead professional development initiatives by planning and delivering impactful in-services and workshops for educators.
  • Embrace a trauma-informed approach by integrating approved strategies and resources into your teaching practices, creating a supportive and nurturing learning environment for all students.
  • Align your teaching practices with the Langley School District's Framework for Teaching and Learning and Strategic Plan.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Education (Secondary) degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Valid Teacher Regulation Branch Certificate, or in progress.
  • Minimum two years of successful teaching experience in regular classroom settings.
  • Demonstrated expertise in effective literacy assessment, instruction, and intervention strategies.
  • Proven ability to foster strong communication and collaborative relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
