Job Summary:
The Developmental Disabilities Association is seeking a skilled Community Support Specialist to join our team. As a Community Support Specialist, you will work with adult clients to support their social, emotional, physical, vocational, recreational, and daily life skill development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist clients with their social, emotional, physical, vocational, recreational, and daily life skill development
- Support clients to achieve their greatest degree of independence in environments of their choice through participation in onsite and community opportunities
- Develop and implement individualized support plans to meet the unique needs of each client
- Collaborate with other professionals, including healthcare providers and social workers, to ensure comprehensive support for clients
- Provide training and education to clients on daily living skills, such as personal care and household management
- Assist clients with personal care needs, including bathing, dressing, and grooming
Requirements:
- Degree or Diploma in a field directly related to Social Services, Human Services, Education, or Therapeutic Recreation
- 1-2 years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities in vocational and community settings
- Demonstrated ability to successfully implement instructional and proactive training programs for clients
- Medical Clearance
- Unrestricted Class 4 Driver's License, or Class 5 Driver's License and willingness to obtain a Class 4 unrestricted Driver's License, and use of vehicle for work
- Demonstrated competency in English written and verbal communication
- Basic computer literacy
