Position Overview:
The University of Toronto is seeking a dedicated professional to join our Alumni Office as a Donor Relations Officer. This role is pivotal in enhancing our engagement with donors and stakeholders, ensuring their contributions are recognized and valued.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identifying and assessing donor needs while contributing to the strategic development and execution of plans for prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and recognition.
- Conducting thorough research and crafting stewardship reports, cultivation materials, and fundraising proposals.
- Providing expert advice on communication strategies that align with organizational goals and priorities.
- Drafting personalized donor acknowledgment and recognition communications to foster strong relationships.
- Building and nurturing connections with key stakeholders and partners of strategic significance.
- Executing established stewardship program activities to enhance donor engagement.
- Evaluating the effectiveness of stewardship initiatives on fundraising efforts.
- Conceptualizing and organizing special events and functions to celebrate donor contributions.
Essential Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of four years of relevant experience in advancement or a related field.
- Proven experience in coordinating and implementing tailored advancement programs.
- Experience in executing stewardship program activities effectively.
- Familiarity with information management, data handling, and donor financial reporting.
- Proficiency in using fundraising databases such as ARBOR, CRM, or similar systems.
- Strong writing skills, particularly in creating non-template fundraising reports and correspondence.
- Ability to prepare comprehensive reports from diverse data sources.
- Experience in planning and organizing events successfully.
- Competence in maintaining websites and managing content.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Intermediate skills in Arbor or similar database systems.
- Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
- Intermediate knowledge of Drupal or comparable content management systems.
- Excellent organizational, time management, project management, and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated initiative, tact, diplomacy, attention to detail, and creativity.
- Knowledge of non-profit fundraising practices, particularly in complex environments within large organizations.
