About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Philanthropy to join our team at Community Food Centres Canada. As a key member of our Development and Communications department, you will play a critical role in leading our individual and foundation fundraising efforts, with a focus on securing major gifts and building strategic partnerships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Fundraising Leadership: Provide vision and leadership for our individual and foundation fundraising program, with a focus on securing major gifts and building strategic partnerships.
  • Major Gift Fundraising: Develop and implement sophisticated strategies to cultivate and solicit major gifts from individual and foundation donors, with a focus on securing gifts of $250,000 or more.
  • Donor Engagement and Stewardship: Foster strong relationships with major donors and stakeholders, ensuring timely and effective stewardship and recognition of their support.
  • Team Leadership: Provide guidance and support to a team of fundraising professionals, with a focus on building a culture of philanthropy and collaboration within the department.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Identify and pursue strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including foundations, corporations, and other organizations, to advance our mission and secure funding.
Requirements
  • Experience: 7+ years of relevant fundraising experience, with a minimum of 5 years of leadership experience.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage a team of fundraising professionals, with a focus on building a culture of philanthropy and collaboration.
  • Relationship-Building Skills: Excellent relationship-building and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated track record of securing major gifts.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling proposals and cases for support.
  • Financial Literacy: Demonstrated financial literacy, with experience in budgeting and reporting.
  • Database Management: Experience with database management and prospect management systems, with a focus on leveraging data to inform fundraising strategies.
