About the Role

The Royal Alexandra Hospital, a leading healthcare provider in Edmonton, is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team in the Acute Surgical Unit. As a key member of our interprofessional healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive patient and family care in accordance with Alberta Health Services (AHS) policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Registered Nurses, Health Care Aides, and other healthcare professionals to provide safe and effective patient care.
  • Direct and monitor the care provided by Health Care Aides, ensuring that patients receive high-quality care and support.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of strategies to enhance patient care and safety.
  • Perform moderate to heavy work on a regular basis to ensure safe patient care and staff safety.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of previous thoracic and general surgery experience.
  • Experience with IV, PCA, Epidural, Drains, and Wound Care.
  • Experience with monitoring of Central Lines.
