About the Role

Crofton House School is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Learning Strategies Coordinator to join our Senior School team. As a key member of our Student Services department, you will play a vital role in supporting students with learning needs and coordinating the work of our Learning Strategists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the Learning Resource Program to promote a collegial teaching and learning environment among Learning Strategists.
  • Oversee the Individual Education Plan (IEP) process, engaging teachers and parents, and ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Assign case managers as needed and oversee the Essential Learning Plan process for students.
  • Manage concussion protocols and collaborate with Personal Counsellors regarding students with Health and Resource designations.
  • Facilitate meetings between students, parents, and Senior School teachers to ensure effective communication and support.
  • Collaborate with teachers to enhance their understanding and ability to support students with learning needs in their classes.
  • Manage the Ministry-provided budget for special needs students and oversee staffing for the after-school support program.
  • Support constructive engagement of parents in the curricular program and foster a positive and supportive culture for learning.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with a Special Education focus and qualifications to teach at an intermediate and senior level.
  • B.C. Ministry of Education Certificate or qualification criteria.
  • Experience as a Special Education Teacher at a senior school level is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of BC Ministry of Education Special Education policies and procedures.
  • Experience reading and interpreting psycho-educational assessments and creating and implementing IEPs.
  • Demonstrable awareness of the learning styles of girls and young women.
  • Collaborative and energetic with a passion for teaching and a commitment to best practices and standards of professional practice.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, negotiation, and mediation skills.
  • Commitment to continued professional development and growth.
