You are comfortable working independently while also valuing collaboration within a team setting.RESPONSIBILITIES
Report directly to the Manager of Underwriting and Broker Services. Evaluate and determine the approval or denial of mortgage loan applications, adhering to established quality standards and deadlines. Analyze loan documentation to ensure compliance with mortgage underwriting criteria regarding the buyer, property, and loan conditions. Conduct Quality Assurance Reviews and audits to verify adherence to internal and regulatory guidelines. Exercise due diligence in processing applications and reviewing documentation, utilizing available resources for validation. Identify and investigate any suspicious scenarios or documentation, escalating issues as necessary. Foster positive relationships with Brokers and other stakeholders. Provide insights to the Service team regarding high-risk transactions, including declines. Offer pricing assessments for mortgage renewals to maintain profitability and consistency. Act as a point of escalation for Brokers and Business Development Managers.QUALIFICATIONS
A post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., business, finance, or related fields) or equivalent experience. A minimum of two to three years of experience within a financial institution, preferably in mortgage underwriting. Proficiency in various software applications, including MS Office and LMS.BENEFITS
