Job Overview

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Supervisor 2 for the Plant Maintenance department.

As a Supervisor 2, you will play a critical role in overseeing the daily operations of service delivery within the maintenance sector. Your expertise will be essential in coordinating both minor and major maintenance and construction initiatives through effective planning and management techniques.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and manage the daily operations of the assigned service area, ensuring efficient execution of maintenance and construction projects. Direct and oversee both preventative and emergency maintenance services to guarantee operational efficiency. Ensure compliance with codes and regulations while managing the performance of maintenance staff and external contractors. Collaborate with clinical leadership to review and assess maintenance work plans, monitoring progress and addressing any potential risks. Engage with industry colleagues to exchange insights and establish benchmarks for productivity; negotiate with contractors and suppliers as necessary.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Journeyman trades qualification in a relevant field or a Power Engineering certificate. At least seven (7) years of relevant experience, including a minimum of two (2) years in a supervisory capacity or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills & Competencies

Proven leadership abilities with a focus on fostering a collaborative team environment. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills to build strong relationships with stakeholders. Strong analytical skills to anticipate financial and operational needs, ensuring optimal resource utilization. Experience managing maintenance and construction projects within a complex healthcare setting. In-depth knowledge of maintenance operations and trade requirements in a hospital environment. Ability to investigate issues and propose effective solutions. Proficiency in current computer applications, including AutoCAD, word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and maintenance management systems. Competence in budget management, health and safety practices, change management, and conflict resolution. Physical capability to fulfill the duties of the position.
