Principal Business Architect

CB Canada is seeking a Principal Business Architect to enhance our capabilities in the Government Services Sector.

Principal Business Architect – Role Overview

  • Evaluates governmental information relevant to business architecture, collaborates with key government stakeholders on specific architecture components, and facilitates focus group workshops.
  • Develops and sustains the enterprise's business capabilities in alignment with corporate strategy while contributing to overall business strategy and planning.
  • Creates and updates business architecture artifacts, modeling business processes at both enterprise and core business levels.
  • Designs capability models and associated architectural solutions for business tasks, aligning capability functionalities with internal and external resources.
  • Collaborates with senior business management to formulate business transformation strategies.
  • Oversees business solutions to support the delivery and operational functions of the organization.
  • Establishes and maintains architectural governance and controls throughout implementation.
  • Contributes to the development of an enterprise blueprint at each stage of the business transformation plan, ensuring a shared understanding of the organization and alignment of strategic objectives with tactical needs.
  • Regularly updates business architecture artifacts to ensure the baseline remains current.
  • Assists with mandatory governance submissions for Cluster and Corporate Architecture.

Principal Business Architect – Essential Skills

  • Architecture Expertise & Experience - 70%
  • Over 10 years of experience with various Enterprise architecture frameworks, preferably Zachman, in large-scale complex architecture systems.
  • Extensive background in Business and Information Architecture.
  • Proven track record in executing multiple large-scale and intricate projects, including business capabilities mapping, updating business services, business processes, business network models, and workflows.
  • Successfully delivered business architectures in governmental or similarly complex, multi-project/multi-client environments.
  • Strong understanding of diverse business contexts, particularly within government, and insight into the business drivers in these settings.
  • Demonstrated experience in producing strategic enterprise business blueprints and architecture roadmaps.
  • Expertise in complex data modeling, including the production of Conceptual, Logical, and Physical Data models using Power Designer, adhering to industry standards.
  • Architecture Skills & Capabilities - 30%
  • Proven ability to conduct business architecture assessments, ensuring compliance with established standards and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of various architecture frameworks such as Zachman, along with principles, guidelines, and standards.
  • Experience in systems analysis, integration, and implementation within large systems environments.
  • Awareness of emerging technologies, trends, and directions.
  • Strong management of responsibilities, along with analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; excellent verbal and written communication; interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to effective stakeholder management.
