Position Overview

Compensation: $43.17 to $55.39 (plus an additional $9 per hour premium for specific staff roles)

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per day

Primary Role: Mental Health Therapist

Employment Type: Permanent

Role Summary

The Mental Health Therapist will be integral to CASA's innovative school-based mental health initiative, which aims to provide essential services closer to students. This program fosters collaboration between mental health professionals and educators to address the mental health needs of children within the school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Deliver high-quality, trauma-informed mental health therapies to children, adolescents, and families in collaboration with the CASA team and external partners.
  2. Assist caregivers in developing specialized parenting strategies for children with unique needs.
  3. Utilize diagnostic tools, including the DSM-5-TR, to formulate appropriate diagnoses.
  4. Manage cases effectively, including organizing case conferences and coordinating with CASA therapists, psychiatrists, and community service providers.
  5. Facilitate consultations with other therapists or external agencies as necessary.
  6. Supervise and mentor student placements within the organization.
  7. Enhance staff understanding of discipline-specific challenges through knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in psychology, social work, or occupational therapy, or a bachelor's degree in social work or a related field, with at least three years of relevant experience in educational or mental health contexts.
  • A minimum of two years of clinical experience in child and family mental health or youth addiction services.
  • Current registration with a recognized governing body in the field.

Employment Conditions

  • Successful completion of a Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, at the candidate's expense.
  • Completion of a Child Intervention Check.
  • Ability to achieve and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification, with physical capability to perform necessary interventions.
