Job Title: Mental Health Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic individual to join our Addiction and Mental Health Police and Crisis Team (PACT) as a Mental Health Therapist. This is a front-line position working on an Outreach basis with the Medicine Hat City Police to provide service to individuals struggling with complex addiction and mental health issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide evidence-informed and best practice in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management, and treatment.
  • Work collaboratively with the Medicine Hat City Police and external stakeholders to provide innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the Medicine Hat City Police and external stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Nursing with training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy.
  • Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
  • Minimum of three years related and relevant post-degree/diploma experience in an addiction and mental health field required; five years preferred.
  • Authorization to do mental health psycho-social intervention is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification.
  • CPR/First Aid preferred.
  • Five years related experience in an addiction and mental health field is preferred.
