Your Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic individual to join our Addiction and Mental Health Outreach Team as a Mental Health Therapist. This position is part of the Addiction and Mental Health Police and Crisis Team (PACT) and is based out of the Medicine Hat Police Station.

Description:

As a Mental Health Therapist with PACT, you will be required to perform psychosocial intervention utilizing a variety of treatment modalities to individuals experiencing addiction and/or mental health issues. This is a front-line position working on an outreach basis with the Medicine Hat City Police to provide service to individuals struggling with complex addiction and mental health issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide evidence-informed and best practice in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management, and treatment
  • Work collaboratively with the Medicine Hat City Police and external stakeholders to provide effective support services
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues
  • Maintain effective working relationships with the Medicine Hat City Police and external stakeholders

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Nursing, with training and experience in mental health assessment and psychotherapy

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of three years related and relevant post-degree/diploma experience in an addiction and mental health field, with authorization to do mental health psycho-social intervention

Preferred Qualifications:

Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification, CPR/First Aid, and five years related experience in an addiction and mental health field
