Job Title: Behavioural Specialist CHI/PAL

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Behavioural Specialist to join our team at Alberta Health Services. As a Behavioural Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing mental health and behavioural support to children, youth, and families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply assessments and develop practical mental health and behavioural strategies to support clients
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to provide support to individuals and families
  • Explore underlying needs exacerbated by behaviour related to addiction and mental health concerns
  • Provide consultation, behavioural and systemic assessments, and interventions
  • Develop behavioural support plans to optimize functioning and wellbeing
  • Manage cases and work with staff and stakeholders to provide support to clients

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field
  • Minimum of two years' experience in a Mental Health setting
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS - HCP) certification
  • Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification
  • Valid driver's licence and access to a motor vehicle in good repair for work-related travel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years' experience working concurrently with individuals and families with mental health and addiction through a case management model
  • Experience working with individuals who have addictions, brain injury and/or developmental disabilities/concerns with accompanying behavioural issues
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Child, Youth & Family Enhancement Act, AHS/RA Policies & Procedures, and other relevant legislation
