Position Summary

The Lead Financial Reporting Analyst, Investments plays a crucial role in the development of investment financial reports, performing various analyses, and ensuring adherence to IFRS and regulatory standards. This position involves conducting in-depth research and analysis on intricate accounting matters while providing guidance and leadership within the accounting department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Aids in the formulation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Oversees the preparation of investment and financial risk disclosures in financial statements, ensuring compliance with IFRS regulations
  • Engages in research regarding IFRS accounting standards and their implications
  • Compiles investment-related financial data to fulfill regulatory obligations, including necessary filings
  • Produces investment-related financial insights for internal reporting and decision-making
  • Contributes to the Company’s Internal Controls over Financial Reporting initiatives
  • Prepares financial statements and accompanying notes for the Canadian Pension Plan, including all relevant entries, reconciliations, and deliverables
  • Takes ownership of specific subject areas, becoming a knowledgeable resource for others
  • Analyzes complex accounting issues
  • Supports initiatives aimed at process enhancement, modernization, and automation
  • Performs additional duties as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related discipline
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is mandatory
  • At least 5 years of post-qualification experience; experience in public accounting is highly regarded
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical capabilities, initiative, and the ability to work autonomously
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Takes ownership and develops expertise in specific subject areas, mentoring others
  • Ability to empower team members to achieve objectives through clear guidance and support
  • Proficient understanding of IFRS accounting standards
  • Capable of researching accounting standards and applying practical solutions to complex issues
  • Ability to operate under tight deadlines with a strong sense of urgency
