Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Clinical Information Officer to join our team at North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust. As a key member of our Digital Senior Management Team, you will be responsible for providing senior clinical leadership and digital clinical expertise to support the delivery of our digital roadmap and overall strategy.

Main Duties
  • Develop and implement a strategy for enhancing clinical processes through technology to improve quality and safety.
  • Ensure the clinical safety of systems and processes in the design, testing, implementation, use, and optimization of technology solutions.
  • Provide strategic direction, leadership, and management of clinical informatics functions, including Clinical & Digital Information, Information Governance, and Directory of Services.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders within the NHS and beyond.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24/7 emergency medical treatment and transport services to those in need. Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and transport them to hospital or a place of care. We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West, providing non-emergency medical help fast and 24/7.

Qualifications and Knowledge
  • Master's degree level or equivalent professional qualifications and/or substantial demonstrable experience in a similar role or setting.
  • Registered with a relevant professional body for clinical specialty.
  • Clinical Safety Officer (NHS) accredited.
  • Evidence of post-qualifying and continual professional development.
Experience
  • Significant experience as a practicing clinician.
  • Significant experience and understanding of the value that digital technology and information bring to improving quality of care, outcomes, and efficiency.
  • Experience of managing and leading across a range of care settings.
  • Strategic awareness of the challenges facing health and social care and in particular Ambulance Services.
  • Knowledge of clinical workflow across the health and social care ecosystem.
  • Significant experience of working across the health economy or working with multiple organizations/boundaries.
  • Demonstrable current leadership and management experience at the same or similar level.
  • Experience in leading clinical informatics teams.
  • Practical experience with patient information systems in a clinical setting.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements around Information Governance and Clinical Records.
