Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Clinical Information Officer to join our team at North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust. As a key member of our Digital Senior Management Team, you will be responsible for providing senior clinical leadership and digital clinical expertise to support the delivery of our digital roadmap and overall strategy.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a strategy and vision for how technology can enhance clinical processes to support quality and safety.
  • Clinical safety of systems and processes in the design, testing, implementation, use, and optimisation of technology solutions to deliver improvements in quality and patient safety.
  • Ensure adherence to a robust governance framework for all clinical systems.
  • Provide strategic direction, leadership, and management of key clinical informatic functions, including Clinical & Digital Information, Information Governance, and Directory of Services.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders within the NHS and outside the NHS.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24-hour, 365-day accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport. Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed. We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West, providing non-emergency medical help fast, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Qualifications and Knowledge
  • Educated to Masters degree level, equivalent professional qualifications, and/or substantial demonstrable experience in a similar role or setting.
  • Registered with relevant professional body for clinical specialty.
  • Clinical Safety Officer (NHS) accredited.
  • Evidence of post-qualifying and continual professional development.
Experience
  • Significant experience as a practicing clinician.
  • Significant experience and understanding of the value that digital technology and information brings to improving quality of care, outcomes, and efficiency.
  • Experience of managing and leading across a range of care settings.
  • Strategic awareness of the challenges facing health and social care and in particular Ambulance Services.
  • Knowledge of clinical workflow across the health and social care ecosystem.
  • Significant experience of working across the health economy or working with multiple organisations / across boundaries.
  • Demonstrable current leadership and management experience at the same or similar level.
  • Experience in leading clinical informatic teams.
  • Practical experience with patient information systems in a clinical setting.
  • Should have an appreciation of the key relationships for NWAS within the region and nationally, including those beyond the health and social care ecosystem.
  • Experience in working with ICSs and regional clinical and digital leaders.
  • Significant experience of managing and delivering successful change to critical digital systems.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements around Information Governance and Clinical Records.
