As a Housing Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals to achieve stable and independent living situations. You will provide direct support to clients navigating the complexities of housing access and maintenance, advocating for their needs and connecting them with essential resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to clients seeking housing assistance.
  • Guide clients through the housing application process, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with housing providers to maintain an updated list of available options.
  • Provide case management services, including needs assessments, goal setting, and progress monitoring.
  • Offer system navigation support, connecting clients with community resources and crisis intervention services.
  • Advocate on behalf of clients, negotiating with landlords and other stakeholders to prevent evictions.
  • Facilitate housing orientation sessions and workshops, equipping clients with essential life skills.
  • Maintain accurate client records and documentation in accordance with established procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A Community College diploma in Social Services or a related field.
  • Certifications in First Aid/CPR, Crisis Intervention, and Conflict Resolution.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with proficiency in computer applications.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • A strong understanding of social justice issues, equity, anti-racism, and anti-oppression principles.
