Director of Merchandise Planning

Mejuri is on the lookout for a Director of Merchandise Planning to enhance our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be a financially astute, customer-focused, and analytical self-starter, driven by the opportunity to collaborate both internally and externally, executing with excellence for our rapidly expanding brand.

Reporting directly to the head of planning, this proactive and visionary individual will play a crucial role in ensuring that our product assortment and inventory strategies align with customer expectations while meeting Mejuri's financial objectives.

This position serves as a vital partner to senior management and merchandising teams, providing insightful, data-driven analysis, managing inventory effectively, and planning product financials to enhance overall business performance.

This role is perfect for someone with experience in a fast-paced, high-growth retail environment, comfortable working cross-functionally across various levels, and eager to deliver high-impact work within a small, agile team while witnessing the real-time effects of their contributions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop merchandise financial plans that optimize product category sales, financial margins, and inventory goals.
  • Act as the primary contact for weekly sales reporting, creating tailored reports for senior leadership and various teams including merchandising, finance, supply chain, retail sales, and digital.
  • Conduct performance analysis across the business to measure the success of sales, margins, and inventory plans.
  • Oversee the open-to-buy (OTB) process, budgeting for inventory purchases of both carryover and new products.
  • Support the buy review process with forecasting and analysis, including estimates for halo and cannibalization effects, required inventory investments, and margin considerations.
  • Provide ad-hoc and diagnostic analysis of sales, gross margin, and inventory performance, communicating insights, corrective actions, and recommendations.
  • Assist in developing systems and tools to enhance the merchandising planning function.
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, managing teams and collaborating with executive leaders.
  • Strong retail experience and business acumen, including forecasting, promotions, margin planning, and inventory productivity measures.
  • Proven track record in assortment and inventory planning to optimize retail stores for maximum conversion rates.
  • Strategic thinker who identifies opportunities and can recommend actionable strategies to senior leaders.
  • Exceptional time management, attention to detail, problem-solving, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and data/business intelligence tools.
