We are seeking a highly skilled Land Use Planning Specialist to join our team at Tulloch. As a key member of our planning team, you will be responsible for leading development proponents through the planning process, preparing applications for various approvals, and providing expert advice on land use planning matters.
Key Responsibilities- Work on a wide range of land use planning projects, including large and small development projects throughout northern and central Ontario.
- Lead development proponents through the planning process, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
- Prepare and submit applications for Consent, Minor Variance, Zoning By-Law Amendments, Official Plan Amendments, Plan of Subdivision/Condominium, and Site Plan Control.
- Prepare Planning Justification Reports and assist in preparing for Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT) hearings.
- Provide expert advice on land use planning matters, including policy analysis and critical thinking.
- Liaise with municipalities, government agencies, and other professionals to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders to deliver exceptional results.
- 3-5 years of experience working in a land use planning and development role, either in the private sector or at the municipal level.
- Working knowledge of the Provincial Policy Statement, municipal Official Plans, and Zoning or Development Permit By-Laws.
- Full membership with the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) is preferred. Eligibility for full membership with OPPI within 1 year is required at a minimum.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise independent judgment within defined parameters.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
