The Family Support Specialist at Family Services of Greater Vancouver offers services aimed at enhancing family dynamics and connecting them with community resources. This role involves providing a range of parenting education, support, and counseling to children and families referred by the Ministry of Children and Family Development. Salary: Starting at GS 13 Step 1 $37.51 per hour. What You Bring: Education, Training, Experience Master's degree in social work or clinical counseling or equivalent education and experience A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Familiarity with child welfare policies and practices Proficient understanding of various parenting strategies and the ability to communicate these strategies effectively to families Comprehensive knowledge of child development and dynamics of child abuse Understanding of integrated case management and wrap-around service delivery Insight into child and adolescent developmental stages Exceptional crisis intervention skills Capability to assist families with diverse service needs related to poverty, addiction, violence, child abuse or neglect, and mental health challenges Proficient in providing counseling through various approaches tailored to client needs, whether in an office, community, or home setting Actively promotes the Agency's commitment to diversity, inclusion, justice, and equity.
