We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Community Outreach Coordinator to join our team at the City of New York. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing outreach strategies to promote diversity and inclusion in our procurement processes.
Key Responsibilities- Outreach and Engagement
Identify and build relationships with minority and women-owned businesses, as well as Section 3 vendors, to promote contracting opportunities and provide guidance on how to do business with the City of New York. - Training and Capacity Building
Conduct targeted trainings and one-on-one meetings with vendors to discuss contracting opportunities and provide guidance on how to navigate our procurement processes. - Communication and Outreach Materials
Develop and manage outreach communications and guidance documents for current and prospective vendors, including communications related to events and program requirements. - Program Design and Implementation
Assist in the design of tailored capacity-building and/or mentorship programming and guidance materials to support the growth, certification, and success of minority and women-owned businesses and Section 3 vendors. - Stakeholder Engagement
Attend and conduct meetings with internal stakeholders to discuss M/WBE and Section 3 requirements and provide guidance on how to implement these requirements. - Resource and Policy Expertise
Serve as a resource to internal and external stakeholders on topics related to M/WBE and Section 3 requirements, including policies at the Federal, State, and City level. - Compliance and Monitoring
Assist with tracking and monitoring contractor compliance with Section 3 and M/WBE requirements. - Administrative Support
Perform analytic or specialized administrative work for the Vendor Diversity Department. - Liaison and Collaboration
Liaise with other agencies on public-facing projects and perform other related duties assigned by the supervisor.
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community-centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
- High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community-centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
- Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
- Established proficiency in advanced functions of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the proven ability to interact with all levels of management.
- Strong coordination, analytical, organizational, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously and prioritizing assignments to meet deadlines.
- Ability to take initiative, problem solve, work independently, and within a team environment.
- Working knowledge of internal and external resources which can be employed to assist M/WBE and Section 3 vendors.
- Interest and experience in City government, procurement, policy, and/or operations preferred.
